NVHC Cares
NVHC Cares
is our cadre of volunteers who are at-the-ready to help care for our community members in need and celebrate their
simchas
(joyful moments).
Calling Team
This Team is made up of volunteers who take a two-week rotation each year to make calls to community members who would benefit from outreach for support or celebration.
We ask you to commit to making calls for the same two-week rotation each year.
The Calls Team Lead will email you with instructions on who to call and why at the beginning of your rotation.
The number of people to call can range from 1 to 10.
We are looking for people who are comfortable having a telephone conversation, willing to take the time to listen to the needs of our members on the phone with patience and compassion, and with a schedule that has the flexibility to make calls during that two-week period.
I am interested in joining the Calling Team.

Shabbat Schmooze Ambassadors
NVHC hosts a Shabbat Schmooze (a pre-Shabbat dinner and social hour) for new and prospective members most months to enable them to meet our clergy, Board of Trustees, and other NVHC members.
We are looking for volunteers to serve as ambassadors to help organize and run the Shabbat Schmooze.
The ambassador will follow a checklist that gives guidance on timelines, activities, and responsible parties starting 3 weeks before the event.
The ambassador will coordinate with the NVHC Executive Director to distribute the information about an upcoming event.
The ambassador will order the food (currently we are using Wegmans in Reston), pick it up, and deliver it to NVHC on the afternoon of the event.
The ambassador will attend the event and facilitate the circulation of the Board of Trustees and clergy attendees to ensure that all new and prospective members have the opportunity to meet them.
