Religious School Tuition Task Force
This task force is researching religious school tuition models (especially local) to identify if we are competitive, and if there is potentially a better model of paying for education; especially one that is in the style of NVHC’s congregational covenantal commitment method of collecting annual pledges.
The work of this task force is to research how other synagogues approach religious school fees, to collect input from NVHC congregants, and to help in the conversation for decision making.
This is a limited term task force approximately 6-12 months of 1-2 evening meetings a month, approximately 10-15 interview phone calls to other congregations and NVHC congregants, and internet research.
This Task force was initiated by the President and currently has two co-leads that provide instructions.
We are looking for people who have had, or will have a student in religious school and are interested in helping to steer NVHC in how we pay for education.

Shabbat Schmooze Ambassadors
NVHC hosts a Shabbat Schmooze (a pre-Shabbat dinner and social hour) for new and prospective members most months to enable them to meet our clergy, Board of Trustees, and other NVHC members.
We are looking for volunteers to serve as ambassadors to help organize and run the Shabbat Schmooze.
The ambassador will follow a checklist that gives guidance on timelines, activities, and responsible parties starting 3 weeks before the event.
The ambassador will coordinate with the NVHC Executive Director to distribute the information about an upcoming event.
The ambassador will order the food (currently we are using Wegmans in Reston), pick it up, and deliver it to NVHC on the afternoon of the event.
The ambassador will attend the event and facilitate the circulation of the Board of Trustees and clergy attendees to ensure that all new and prospective members have the opportunity to meet them.
